No More Questions
by Shana Schutte

When I was thirteen, one of my friends nicknamed me "The Little Philosopher," because I was always asking questions about life, love, and God. Not much has changed. Twenty-six years later I still sometimes drive myself crazy asking, "Who?" "What?" "When?" "Where?" and "Why?"

I know I'm not the only one who has almost gone insane grappling with silent inquiries--those that linger in the depths of our hearts and in the backs of our minds. Everyone, everywhere has questions about something--especially about sensitive issues of life that there just doesn't seem to be answers for. For example: Have you ever engaged in conversation with someone who said something like: "When I get to heaven, I'm going to ask God why my dog died," or "Where He was when my father abandoned me," or "Why my mom couldn't love me?" Because life hurts, everyone has questions.

Maybe you've also stored an inquiry in the back of your mind you'd like to ask God when you finally see him face-to-face--maybe something that has bothered you for years. I've got good news:

You won't be asking any pain-filled questions in heaven.

In John 16:22-23, Jesus says, "In that day, you will no longer ask me anything."

I'm not sure if we won't ask because every question will melt away in the light of His all encompassing love (we'll be like tongue-tied school girls in His presence) or if it's because everything will finally make sense due to the fullness of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 13:12). Either way, we won't be asking. No more struggling, wrestling, worrying or wondering--just blessed peace.

What are the unanswered questions that pain you? Perhaps today you can make a list of them and laugh.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain..." Revelation 21:4
